Their soldiers are legion. Their might unmatched through the galaxy. Their billions of citizens toiling away on thousands of worlds. This is the Imperium of man, proud commanders of the galaxy, guided by the Immortal God Emperor, a living warp god among men. Surrounded on all sides by hellish rivals, the imperium fends them off with its mighty army and holy fleet, struggling to save its people. From the mightiest chapter master to the lowest guardsman, all serve the God Emperor. His priests preach his name. His soldiers strike down his enemies. His blessed fleets level their opponents. None can stand against the Imperium. Few dare try.
--- This is my army. bow before it or fall to my wrath and that of my C’tanic masters.
The Adeptus Astartes Space marines are superhuman, genetically engineered to be the ultimate killing machine. They wear power armor, which enhances their strength and speed, and carry some of the deadliest weapons in the imperium.
The Imperial Guard are normal, everyday soldiers. Each is willing to die for the Emperor. Their weapons are worse than those o space marines but are still deadly. They are generally viewed as expendable, hurled in their thousands against enemy lines.
The God Emperor of Mankind is the supreme ruler of the Imperium. He keeps the astronomicon whole using his mind, allowing ships to travel through the warp. He was grievously injured in a fight with his favored son when the latter was turned to Chaos. His last few living cells are in the golden throne, allowing him to stay alive.
The Collegio Titanicus: Commanders of the mighty Titan legions, they wield incredible power. Titans are capable of leveling cities, and are a potent reminder of the fate that befalls enemies of the imperium.
And here is a brief timeline with few dates:
The Imperium is founded.
The age of strife occurs. Civil wars wrack the imperium.
The imperium reigns in a golden age.
The Dark age of technology occurs. Many templates for vehicles and weapons are lost.
Horus, warmaster of the imperium and favored son of the emperor is turned to Chaos by demons.
Horus and ten Adeptus Astates legions rebel.
In the battle of Terra, the God Emperor of Mankind kills Horus, but he is grievously wounded and is placed on the golden throne.

The Creation and life of a Space Marine is truly astounding. Each chapter makes it’s home either upon or within orbit of a world pre-industrial and feral, warrior societies where only the strong are allowed to survive. Within each of these cultures is the veneration of the God Emperor and his chosen sons, warriors who wage war across the heavens for eternity in his glorious name.
Take for an example, Bhaal. Home world of the Blood Angels Space Marine Chapter. This world is a harsh and deadly place, plagued by the remnants of a millenia past nuclear war that destroyed the paradise for a desert world ripe with mutation and terrible beasts.
Upon this world, the mutated and deformed local’s fight daily for their survival, except for one point each decade where they fight for something greater. Each generation the greatest warriors of Bhaal travel to the great northern peak of the world, and face off against one another to reach the summit. They go for day’s without food, without sleep, constantly under assault by the environment, the creatures of these mountains and even each other for the rewards are jealously guarded.
To reach the peek, is to gaze upon the chariot of the gods and those gods who were once men awaiting to choose the greatest of those who have survived their ordeal. Few survive the trip, fewer still are chosen to join the gods amongst the stars.
Those few that do, are then taken to the Chapter Fortress of the Blood Angels, a great construction in the orbit of the world that looks down upon the destruction of the once ripe world amongst the stars. Each initiate taken is tested for weeks at a time, before their training can begin proper...
Chemical analysis and treatment begin early on and are continued throughout the entirety of a marines life. Any imperfection must be removed or replaced, any deformation, mutation or genetic deviation can throw the entire process out the window and the initiate will be cast aside. Hypnotherepy, physical training and indoctrination into their new bodies and mental powers are all combined alongside the implantation of 19 different organs, each designed to improve upon, alter or replace pieces of the human form. For example, a typical space marine will stand an average of 3 meters tall, his ribcage will be fused and his bones re-enforced with hardened ceremite [the same material used in their armor]. Two hearts, a third lung, sight in darkness almost as much as daylight. Immune to almost all known poisons and venoms, resistant to all but the most extreme of radiations, able to enter a state of suspended animation for centuries at a time if needed. They require little more than four hours of rest each day and can function without flaw for up to two weeks without rest.
Lastly is the black carapace, a second fiber bundle skin implanted beneath a marines own skin that allows complete synchronization with a marines Power Armor, and protects from all but the most potent of projectile weaponry or physical attacks.
It is debatable if the Space Marines are human anymore, for all they go through to serve the God Emperor of man. And to think, the Primarchs whose gene’s laid the foundation for the Marine Chapters where as gods compared to these beings, and the Emperor himself as far beyond them again.
Necron Lord, your still capitalizing two letters of my user name needlessly.
In regards to the Adeptus Custodius and the Primarch’s, the whole area is vague and largely undefined even at this point in time. We know that they were created well before the Crusade, that they acted as the Emperors personal bodyguard and were often the only living beings allowed in his presence. We know that they were costly and time consuming to make, far so than even the Space Marines themselves and when the Emperor began work on the Primarchs and the gene seed that they were likely to be replaced or deployed in new areas. We also know that in capabilities, they are slightly above the Astartes, but no-where near as prominent as the division between human, marine and primarch.
In fact, the head of the Custodes during the Heresy thought less of the Primarchs for some time, Lemun Russ himself only earned the mans respect by defeating Horus himself in a sparring match.
All in all, the division between the genetic creations and the average man is idolized and made out to be far greater than it would in reality be.
