downloads for mobile media

I have a very large collection of good PUBLIC DOMAIN movies that I would like to provide for download om my site. Right now my site has some of the movies in flash format for on screen viewing. I would like to provide a universal format that could be zipped and linked for downloading. I have the On2 flash encoder and PSP’s procoder Quicktime pro and all of the Adobe products. My question is is there a size and format that will be pretty much universal. I would like to have at least the Ipod’s and Iphones plus psp’s. But don’t want to encode different formats for each device. Most of the flicks are widescreen but there are some 4:3’s also. This isn’t a gimmick, I just need some input.
