There is plenty of content if you look past what’s on the radio which is more R&B and Pop then actual Hip Hop. Fuck, the fact that Weezy went plat in a week proves that Hip Hop isn’t dying. It proved that rap is relevent enough that a rap artist can have success like that. As far as rappers like Soulja Boy there has always been rapper like that ,that come in and have a huge hit, I don’t know why people think that that’s a new thing. And whether you like his music or not you have to respect his hustle, making his own beats off FL Studio and making it by himself. That being said he’s not the face of hip hop. When most people that don’t really listen to rap think of hip hop they think of Wayne,50,and Kanye which isn’t that bad, they are all good artists that have talent, 50 is the weakest of the three but he’s capable of making a good album. And I don’t know where you got that Hurricane Kris is doing better than Cham. Cham is making a whole lot more money than Hurricane Kris is.

Cause the nigga wear a kufi, it don’t mean that he bright/ Cause you don’t understand him it don’t mean that he nice/
It just means you don’t understand all the bullshit that he write/Is it “Oochie Wally Wally” or is it “One Mic”?

They got a lot of play down here but I guess that’s because I’m from Texas but either way he’s more successful than Hurrican Kris, shit Cham went Gold as an underground artist.

It’s the same thing over here in Tennessee. That’s the last song I’ve heard from Cham.

The thing about Hip Hop is that there are always gonna be great MCs and Groups but it’s really all about the industry..Somebody like AZ is one of the most flawless MCs to ever grace the mic but the thing is he just lacks that mainstream appeal..Nobody wants to listen to a guy being lyrical over a slower beat..They wanna hear Kanye West singing Stronger at a concert or they wanna hear Lollipop when there in the club with their girl..They wanna hear pop and punk rock music when they’re in the car..The reason why Lil Wayne and Kanye West are so popular though is that they are different from the mainstream of hip hop..Wayne might have the same subject matter as the rest but he throws in crazy lines that make you rewind the tape..Kanye has a wide range of subject matter and he makes catchy hooks over dope beats that HE produced..I used to love 50 Cent before I really got into hip hop because, like it or not, he just makes good music...may not be lyrical, but he always keeps it interesting..and thats what people want — suspense...and thats why Hip Hop needs people like 50...also Major Record Labels are the other main problem here..Instead of recruiting and signing Long term artists like Saigon,Little Brother,Blu and Exile..they’re making this quick money off of Shawty Lo,Soulja Boy(etc.)...and even when they d sign somebody thats good, they are never the priority..And their albums usually never drop..damn..i got a lot to say haha...anywayz..Keep writing and spittin..Hip Hop is alive and well...now its up to us to keep it going pzzzzz

Not really, MAKING music isn’t that hard getting your music heard and promoting it is the hard part without a record label.

Exactly a lot as in thousands if not millions of people, it’s a good way to get heard but that’s about it won’t really help you get a deal or get on the radio unless you made something that can really be marketed like Shawn Kingston or Soulja Boy.
