One thing I have never seen. An argument between an Atheist and a Nihilist. How would that end?
Not much of an arguement goes on between the two. I have been in an argument with an atheist. It was wierd. Pretty much, it usually goes in circles. The atheist gets confused alot, and the nihilist has to repeat things. Nihilistic/Atheistic arguements are pretty funny.
Demonstration:
Ath: I don’t believe in God.
Nih: Me neither.
Ath: People in the middle east are morons, they don’t even follow morals.
Nih: What morals?
Ath: ???? You know, morals...
Nih: Well if there is no God, what made morals?
Ath: Morals exist, we perform them.
Nih: They differ from person to person, depending on life experience. If morals are that manipulative, then they really don’t seem to exist, they are an illusion.
Ath: So you think killing people is a good thing?
Nih: It is neither good or bad.
Ath: You are a sick person.
Nih: No. I am being logical. If you believe morals exist, you believe in God, because if there were such thing as morals, they would have to be made by a supreme being by God.
Ath: But there is no God...
Nih: So there are no morals
Ath: ...Wait...what?
Thank you. I just lol’d.
Lol, it always just becomes a circle LOL

It is a pretty genius philosophy. Unfortunately, a lot of people are afraid of it because if they do, they will think that they are considered worthless and pointless (which is ho nihilism views life, individual people, and the universe) because there is no official meaning to life (if there is no God) and we are just a sack of meat with eyes with many chemical reactions going on in us. It is very hard to explain though. The only way someone can truly understand it is if they just truly look at everything and think about it for a while, and ask yourself “Why is it here? What is the point? etc” that is how I became a nihilst.

You nailed it Kev.
But Nihilism is not all about morals not existing either. It goes very deep, even to the point of saying life and emotion does not exist, which I believe.

yeah, and my thoughts do the same. but, we were kinda on the subject of morals.
but, yeah, i kinda go though fazes of depression where i think about how my life really doesn’t have any meaning. in fact, no ones life has any meaning. nothing has meaning. we are all just one six in a half billion. we are all nothing. together, we are nothing, because as individuals, we are nothing. human society is nothing. we are just cockroaches, squirming around based on primal instincts till we die and its all over. as you said, life is just a bunch of chemical reactions that take place and happen to force things to move. its really nothing more then any other cycle. this one is just a bit more complex.
yeah...thats when i have to remind myself what i believe.

Yeah, it sounds like you are on the same page as me. Sounds like you very well could be a nihilist. Nihilism is a very depressing idea, but really, when you think about it, is that really gonna stop you from doing what you want to do as a human? If you think about that, you wont be as depressed when you are a nihilst. When I first becamoe one i was very depressed, but I realized that it does not mean I have to be sad. I can do what I want, and I have freedom!

heh, yeah, i guess i’m just an extremest. i throw myself completely into christianity, but if i weren’t doing that, i’d be throwing myself into its polar opposite.
