to me its simple.....everything in the cosmos is contingent and needs a cause to explain where it came from and /or how it continues to exist, there must be something in the universe that needs no cause for its origination or continued existence....an UNCAUSED CAUSE that cannot not exist. for example, you write a letter, you are dependent on other things and simply could not exist right now without these things.....its funny, the universe according to science is the effect of a BIGBANG, but who triggers this event(BIGBANG)? of course galaxies, planets, stars suns are all product of this event....unless you think bigbang occur by themselves.....ne.

errrr.... i don’t care about the origins of our race.. i choose apathy.

never really cared for that word for some reason....it kinda rings a bell with ignorance, and lacking.... for some reason....no offense int...
no offense taken.... but apathy is the way i deal with most negative emotions or questions that aren’t possible to answer....(we can’t answer this question...yet)
it is a toughie...no doubt....but then its fun too...i’m thinking of starting several threads like “atheists believe that something came from nothing” and several others...just to really hammer home some points...its all about the time though./
yep... i saw a Christian video and it stated that the human mind can’t comprehend infinity. which is why we(or at least most)don’t under stand that space is never ending.
its true our finite being has no was of understanding/comprehending the Infinte....augustine was asked something very similar to which he responded that it was like putting a glass in 1 ocean.......

Once again, you are assuming to know what atheists believe.
I, for one, do not believe we came from “nothing”. We don’t yet know how the universe started, or the full workings of how life may have started.... but I believe we will eventually learn if our race is to live long enough.
There are a few theories about how “our” universe came about, and it involves multiple dimensions. The “M Theory” involves the dimensions running parallel (and kinda flowing like stretched bedsheets as an analogy). The idea is that our universe exploded into being when the dimensions “overlapped”.
Now, this idea also involves how we have witnessed protons literally “pop” in and out of “existence”. We know that it is possible for these atoms to just appear out of nowhere. The question is from where and how.
There is still so much knowledge in our universe to uncover, that I think drawing any absolute conclusion to as to how the universe came about would be intellectual suicide.

Careful you don’t start some shit. We could easily make some stuff for your religion.

We dont know what cause the big bang.. but to those who claim that a god created the planet the stars etc.. this is equally moronic as saying a god made you grow up.
--- Theory does not mean an unsubstantiated guess or hunch, as it can in everyday speech. A theory is a logically self-consistent model or framework for describing the behavior of a related set of natural or social phenomena.

You’re strawman of “atheist believe that something came from nothing” is actually what you believe. You claim that God came from nothing!!!!!.
no? still don’t think you made a stupid comment.... alllllllrighty then.
