..... what?! If it’s an open field battle, the Spartans would still win. Everyman for themselves?! The Spartans didn’t fight as everyman for himself.... thats why they won. It’s that kind of organization that transfered over to the roman army, and then medieval combat, and then to Cossacks style combat.
Berserkers didn’t have to be the biggest and strongest warriors to be a berserker. There is no reason to think one berserker would always win... or even most of the time win against a single Spartan. one big weapon isn’t nessesarily better than a big shield and gladius. Infact, a shield and gladius is more effective, and proven to be so.
Lets recap before we get carried away. There were no special conditions that state that the battle has to be a mass tangle of bodies swinging angerly at each other. This topic just asked about Berserkers vs Spartans. This makes me assume that the Spartan army gets to fight like a Spartan army, and the army berserkers get to be themselves. Spartans win man.
no this is who would win in a battle(s) the spartans were good as an organized army but what if there ranks fell apart how would they fight? i am guessing the berserkers dont like fighting in organized ranks anyways so they have advantages if the spartan army fell out of rank
Since when has the Spartan Army fell out of rank? They fought to the last man. They never back down, no giving up, no surrendering. They were taught to never give up during a fight, something a movie doesn’t tell you.
yes but lets say there army fell out of rank what would happen? they would not fight as good as they usually do when they fight as a organized army
Let’s say the don’t. It hasn’t happened, and it surely won’t in this battle. At the Battle of Thermopylae, they were outnumbered, and outmatched. They did not back down. They did not surrender. The Berserkers are not organized. They are not even in order. They will fall.

No, they won’t. The Berserkers are not organized. They can do nothing to strike fear into the Spartans. They know no fear. They took on thousands of soldiers from Xerxes' army, and toppled them. The Berserkers do not even hesitate to kill their own comrades. They are not going to survive.

lol at the part of them killing there allies for no reason
xerxes army was pathetic except for the immortals who are still kind of pathetic the berserkers surpass the persians easily even though they have the same lets go out there and attack violently without a strategy or organized army ways

So 300 Spartan soldiers facing possibly two million of the Persian army to the death is pathetic? The Berserkers are not even going to survive if they don’t even care enough about their own allies.

i still laugh at them killing there allies
well anyways the number of persians is not correctly known some people say the number of 5 million persians was over exaggerating while others say there was as much as 200,000-300,000 persians so the number is not really known
the spartans facing that many persians is not pathetic the only pathetic part was that the persians were not very good in battle atleast the ones under the rule in that time

They don’t have to be the best warriors. They outnumbered them very heavily. If 12 Spartans can take out 50 Persians, imagine how it will be if they face the Berserkers. There will be major casualties. To take out the Immortals is an impressive feat. The Spartans were the Delta Force of the Ancient World.

Probably, yes. It doesn’t matter how violent you are. You can be one of the most violent people in the world, and still get your ass kicked on the battlefield.

They didn’t have trouble with the immortals. The only reason that they had lost is because Ephialtes told the King about a shortcut around the Hot Gates, which gave them the advantage.

All through history all over the world, you’ll find legendary soldier types. Samurai, Zulu, Spartans, berserkers, Immortals, Ninja, Shoalin Monks, Muay Thai fighters, the Roman Centurions. All of them well known for what they could do and how devastating their forces were.
The thing that is being missed though is that they were all very specialized in defeating a very specific enemy. Ninja’s for example were killing tons of samurai warlords, striking much fear into their foes. This is because of the tactics they used that were honed specifically against the smaurai’s style of fighting... and that is the use of guerilla warfare tactics , while the samurai were used to a stand up “man to man” fight.
Now the Spartan’s, which are just like the Roman centurion’s when it comes to battle tactics, is specifically designed to defeat barbarian style armies.... Which is EXACTLY the style in which the berserkers fight. They were a disorganized horde that would just rush in and swing and die. They were shock-troops. Plus, there was never an ARMY of berserkers... they are just a type of soldier, not a whole race of them. The army would contain archers, regular militia, vertern soldiers, and then also berserkers which would be used to try and scare the enemy because of their unorthodox willingness to run into the fray of battle (drugged out of their mind), usually screaming and naked, wearing animal skins and painted to look like demons. Berserkers were never used as stand alone units because they were unreliable.
The Spartans would win simply because they were designed to defeat barbarian style opponents....
god damn...
