That remind’s me even that Shuyin Cat from X-2 was close to Sephiroth’s level of willpower, his pysical body died but his emotion’s remained in this world makeing him an unsent eventualy his emotion and sorrow became so much he could posses people and the spirit’s such as Auon’s to do his bidding makeing them his puppet’s, now Shuyin built his power over 1000yr’s and he was a regular guy think of Yu Yevon’s power witch has also grown over 1000yrs and he was unserpassed in spiritual art’s to begin with.
Now then as for that barrior it is created useing hundreds of thousands of pyerflie’s (little hovering orbs of life energy) focused into a gravity barrior to deflect massive attack’s such as the machina cannon, and can be focused into a beam so powerful it can pull the moon from orbit sucking in everything around it absorbing them and leaveing an amass of destruction all around it.
so it is doubtful Sephiroth can overcome Yu Yevon’s spiritual power’s with ease, and even so he dousent have a clue how to send opponent’s such as Sin so he is fucked with all my condolences

1. absorb Sephiroth like he did seymour
2. fry Sephiroth into nothing like he did to the crusader’s on the battle of Mihen

And aren’t pyerflies spiritual energy? Sephiroth can absorb or corrupt spritual energy, and take control of it.
So, Sin cannot hurt him but he can take control of Sin. The big “whale” of pyerflies is screwed, realy.
Sephiroth is the “new evolution of Jenova”, not just a guy with a sword.
