My gf wants to move to Canada when we move in together (I just want to get the hell out of this country) so I want to know what it’s like.

Anyone?

Well...

a) Where in Canada? (it does make a difference)
b) what’s it like in regards to....? Health care? Standard of living? etc.

Generally speaking Canada is more multicultural and accepting of diversity. We don’t tend to treat politics as a religion here.

It’s worse than the US when it comes to political correctness. Same with Europe.

A lot of comedy actors come from Canada. wink

Canada IS more politically correct than the U.S. hence why they always talk about diversity. Canada is more liberal than the U.S. is.

I’ve been to Toronto and Montreal. Two great cities. Canada is like any other country of the western world. It’s pretty much like the states but without the social stigma attached to the States which, for the most part, is rightly deserved.

Getting shit on for being a white male, getting treated like your stupid for being a minority, getting treated like a homophobe just because you aren’t gay, getting taxed like hell for a failing health care system and a government that can’t stop spending, peace at any cost (including an innocent’s death), having freedom of speech barred just so Muslim’s feelings aren’t hurt, women being forced to wear turbans in Europe because pacifists won’t do anything. Yeah, I like liberal.

We also believe in understanding our topic before talking about it wink. Knowledge - not such a bad thing.

a) white males are not discriminated against here.
b) you’re only treated as a homophobe if you’re actually a homophobe
c) failing health care system? maybe...but at least we have one wink. Yes we have a lot of taxes, but we also have better social systems.
d) peace at any cost including an innocent’s death....what are you referring to? You’re not making sense.
e) freedom of speech is actually encouraged much more than in the U.S. Hate speech is another matter entirely.
f) I’m not European....and I’ve never heard of that either...sources please?

Maybe you should research your topic before you say anything. wink

I’ve dealt with that kind of stuff first hand unless you’re putting me off as a liar. My last post was actually less about Canada and more about liberalism. I’m not saying the Republicans are great because I hate them too but liberalism is doing more damage than good. When you are a white male then you will understand that white males truly are being discriminated against. Sometimes it just takes first hand witness to see or understand something otherwise it just slips through unnoticed.
For Europe I’ll let you do the research. It was actually in a couple books but I unfortunately can’t remember their titles.
In Britain, if that’s the right country, all the prisons are having their toilets torn out and faced towards Mecca, I think that’s what it’s called, because the Muslims considered it offensive.
Liberalism is failing Europe.

Health care. America’s health care has flaws but it’s better taking care of it yourself than relying on the government and having ridiculously high taxes. It doesn’t help anyone.
1. The poor can’t afford to pay higher taxes anyways.
2. It takes too damn long to be able to see a doctor. In Europe you have to wait a whole year before seeing the doctor so they have a lottery and if you win you can see one immediately. It’s sad.
3. Illegals and the like abuse the system and do not pay taxes. Same with school. They don’t pay income tax and they still get free education.

I admit the US has many issues and no system is perfect. No matter what someone is going to be on the bottom, we just try to help them out but with socialism everybody is dragged down.
It failed with communism. That should have been a lesson learnt.

Unfortunately yes. If you are lucky you can see the doctor sooner.

Ah well I am referring strictly to Canada as that is the topic of this thread anyhow. So I’ll address the points that refer (or somewhat refer) to my country. Maybe once you live in my country, you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. Anyhow:

- white males are not discriminated against in Canada. At least not any more than any other group. In fact, they are significantly less discriminated against than the Native population.

- health care - it doesn’t take as long to see a doctor as you seem to think. Again, I am referring to Canada, not Europe. Yes there is a doctor shortage here. But a lot of people find ways to get the medical attention they need even if it’s not from a “family doctor”. Also I AM one of “the poor” who has to pay taxes. I’d still prefer to not have to be slapped with an exorbitant bill if I have health problems.

As for your last point....how did we suddenly go from talking about liberalism in a democracy to communism?
