Some would believe that the influences are more subtle. As if a thought were placed in your head to ponder. Perhaps an object was placed for one to see and would direct them towards an idea or action.
Just a thought. I like to play devil’s advocate.

pretty much it exactly. God as the trinity, 3 in one. God the father, God the son, and the holy spirit. the holy spirit is what influences us on earth.

Then that would have to mean that they have and use physical power in this world. Otherwise, it sounds to me as if it’s used more as in excuse to not take responsibility for ones own temptations and internal debates.
