What the fuck happened to all the platformers?

They just disappeared and all turn in to shooting games.

The only top quality platformers left are Mario, Jak, and Ratchet.

They aren’t flooded in the market because Mario and Sonic are no longer top dog. Shooting genre is now, so that’s what floods the market. Only platformers left are the ones that have been inherently good.

though if you want some good platformers, the Lego series games are great.

I love the Lego series but I’m tired of those.

I heard they’re coming out with a new Wario platformer. Hopefully it’s one.

I am sick of all these shooting games. I love shooting games but that’s all that’s left.

I want a top quality button smasher too. Literally all the new button smashers are shit except Dynasty Warriors, which has it’s own problems.

Haha I know how ya feel. The thing with shooters, is the gameplay is so simplistic and one track, that once the game is made once and with a decent online the rest can pretty much just seem like expansions. And then it just gets old. That’s the main problem with simplistic gameplay concepts such as shooting or racing. It gets old quick if something really new doesn’t come out all the time. Thus shooting genre gets old, and seeing that it’s only filled with stereotypes nowadays you get very few that are extroardinary.

And I wouldn’t hold out much for that Wario Wii game. hear it’s not supposedly too great.

I have that on PSP 2.

Any Warriors game I like but I don’t buy them because the series is known to be plagued with the Madden syndrome.

It’s updates are never very large.

It’s too primitive and not complex enough to make too many games off of it. It’s a genre that it’s good to find a few in for single player and a few for online and that’s it. Otherwise if you only buy shooters you’ll notice your repeatedly playing the same thing over.

At least I’m not alone. Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Goldeneye, DK 64, OOT, and a whole shitload more.

I am somewhat with you.

The CoD series has gone is top quality but it feels the same no matter what, which is good and bad.

The MoH is just too damn old for me.

Far Cry was very good during it’s time with the animal instinct, which no other shooter had, and the best level editor but they were stupid enough to remove the instinct mechanic and because of that the level editor is no longer enough for me.

007 was a great run and gun game but what made it different was the gadgets. The idiots got rid of the gadgets. Instead of adding a duck and cover system they should have added a complex but simple to use gadget system to the online mode.

GTA is always outdated. GTA IV was what GTA III should have been in 2000. Now it’s 8 years later and they finally got where they should have been 8 years ago. On top of that they took out so much.

Halo 3 is shit. I’m not discussing that.

Gears of War is shit. Rainbow Six is better.

Unreal Tournament is meh.

RFoM is shit besides the fact that you can play 50 now 60 people online at once.

Bad Company is one of the few shooters that stands out. It has an arcade feel but still has strategy and has a major amount of environment interaction.

Rainbow Six is top of the line but needs something to mix in with the stellar duck and cover system.
It is one of the few games that should have a duck and cover system.

N64 and PS1 era just had an explosion of many genres that really setup these gens. Just don’t see that explosion anymore. Devs are just getting too comfortable and making money in confortability. But that’s bad for a market. A market that doesn’t continue to grow, crashes.

Even Wii is lacking in the platform genre. I thought Wii and PS3 would have a lot more platform games because of last gen.

I didn’t expect anything from 360 because all it had was shooters and rpgs.
