Yes, I would do the same, as bad as we would possibly not like, or hate that certain family member. I would not like to have a guilty conscience in my head haunting me.

I also have another question. Would you sacrifice yourself to save the lives of millions of people, or kill a complete stranger, ending in the same outcome?
