So many times I have heard Atheists quote verses such as “disbelievers will go to Hell”(Mat 13:42), “slay false prophets”(Deu 18:19) or “Make war on the infidels around you (Sura 9:123). Never have I head you quote “thou shalt not kill”(Exo 20:13), “love thy neighbour”(Mat 19:19) or “Do not agress." (Quran 2:190)
Why is this? Why do you simply ignore all the peaceful verses in the Quran and Bible? The fact that there are violent verses also is a contradiction, but it doesn’t favour the violent side. Even if there’s more verses, might does not equal right. You always rave on about Christians and Muslims choosing which parts of the scriptures they think canon and which aren’t, when you are doing the same things yourselves you hypocrites. Does that not bear at least an ounce of wishful thinking? Perhaps because you feel pissed of and betrayed that you think your religion lied to you?
Because they think they can pick and choose, if you think your holy book is the word of your god, then you can not pick and choose! You must follow it all or not, pick one.
How would you like it if I had a book telling me to kill you but it also had a contradiction in it to say to love you, Then I told you I believe every word in this book, would you feel safe? Wouldnt you think I was mad?
I thought you said what people think didn’t matter...

Thats like giving you a photo of a bunny and asking you to tell me what sex you “think” it is. Its doesn’t matter what I think, it can only be left as a bunny till any evidence points either way...

No one is denying that there is some good in scriptures, but you dont get away for calling us hyprocrites for not following the whole thing, no you dont get away with stuff like that.
If you think your holy book is the word of god, then you can not pick and choose what you want to follow
we cant... we must follow it all... and the harsh lines you mentions... thats for war...
we cant kill someone in peace region... but in war... its allowed...

I think you pretty much answered your own question they choose those verses, because they do CONTRADICT the good verses. So saying Thou Shall Not Kill in one verse, then saying slay false prophets strictly contradict each other thus IMO not making the source material reliable.
