If the world didn’t have religion we would probably be going in the same general direction (both good and bad) we are now, just probably at a faster rate. I think anyways.
I am sorry if I have created a copy thread. I am slightly new to this place. But personally when I look at many of the safest countries in the world they tend to have a very high population of atheists. I think with the absence of any godly figure the would would be a much safe and less violent place.

i don’t think recrimination would be gone. it has always been everywhere. for example, from what i understand, japan is very racist, especially against the chinese. and, that was long before christianity hit japan.
Depends on the absence of which particular godly figure, whether he is peaceful or violent.
Really though, you look at Christian countries like the USA, most of the killings are not in the name of religion. There’s plently enough motive for killin' in money, revenge, getting rid of oppresion, race, culture, territory, politics, nationality, property and just for the hell of it.
Even in the past with the crusades and such, most of the crusaders hadn’t even read the Bible and were just following the words of the Pope’s who twisted religion to put people under their control. It wasn’t just for the God’s cause either, they wanted spices, goods, territory, money etc and if God didn’t exist they would have used something else to manipulate the people anyway.

A world without religion would be bad. Eventually everyone would become Nihilists, and with no morals, corruption and crime amongst the youth would soar, as there would be no reason not to steal, or try to benefit themselves, or even kill, apart from fear. Eventually, governments would have to either opress the people with overwhelming force, or to indoctrinate the people about their place in society (ultra-communism, if you like) There would also be no reason not to build those cobalt wrapped doomsday bombs, for any country.
However, a world without secular thought would be equally as bad, as science would advance far less, and churches would become fat and corrupt without any free-thinkers to question them.

The loss of religion would not send youths down a path of violence.

Christians make up 80% of the American Population
They make up 70% of the prison population.
Atheists make up 12% of the American population
They make up .02% of the prison population.
