No offense. but thats probably more because of the social position atheists tend to occupy. They normally fit in less and so do not become a part of gang culture. In america, ive been told, Atheists on average are more intelligent than Christians (Not sure about this, but people on here have said it), which is the opposite of UK/Europe, funnily enough, and so they tend to not do drugs or join criminal groups.

However, just look at the turmoil caused by teens in parts of Britain who are told that there is nothing wrong with anything.

Also, government corruption would become insane. There would be no reason not to do something if you can get away with it, no reason not to make yourself a little better off at the expense of others, and so politicians and administrators everywhere would be helping themselves.

I am not saying it is the downfall of religion that causes this, but the removal of religion would eventually remove any morals people have whatsoever, as Nihilism is the only true form of Atheism, and so it would probably take over. As Peterofsky said,Nihilists tend to have high IQs, but what happens when you tell some rednecks or some teens that they can do anything they want, and that they should do what they want, as this life is all they have, so they should experience as muchas possible.

I would say society needs to be weened off religion in order to avoid anarchy. The only ones that would actually run wild are those who morals were held in place solely by the idea of biblical hellfire. If we were to suddenly “disprove” all religious ideas, then of course we would have anarchy created by these people and those who would take advantage of the disorder. This is of course only assuming that there are enough people who’s morals are only there because of fear of eternal suffering.

If religion is slowly removed, then those who do not hold true personal morals will be able to hold onto their beliefs until they die, and as the generations go by, it will be harder and harder to pass along their theistic beliefs until it is gone.

In theory, #2 is the best solution. In time, the world will eventually fully awaken.

A new forms of gov would appeare. Both good and bad just as there would have been if there was still religion. People would still fight over stupid shit like oil, race, land or just being dicks.

Me, it was my hampster.

That’s really hard to say, because remove the religion we are still human and still have plenty of drives and motives to do bad things, religion is/can be just one of those many reasons.

On a larger scale things would quiet down, but with no real consequences small time murder would jump a f@&! load. But most all violence in the world would stop if every thought for a half second because most religons are religons of peace.
