Diablo for me consisted of staying up late on a second hand computer after dinner and dying a lot whilst trying not to let my mother see what I was playing. The game was good, the story was great, I used to play next to a window and so my left hand went numb and senseless every few minutes so I’d have to stop.
I loved it.
Diablo 2 started some years later, after I discovered that Diablo 1 actually had a sequel [this was prior to my discovery of 'The Internet']. I saved up my pennies, went and purchased it at the tech section of a furnature store with my grandfather and played through the first two quests with a Barbarian.
My mother then noticed the M15+ rating and took it off me.
I spent the next 6 months installing it on my grandfathers computer once every two week’s, and playing through it a little further without my mother noticing. It was my first great 'epic' game, a union of simple but dynamic gameplay and truly life-changing story in a world where for me games consisted of Pokemon, Wario World 2 and Diddy Kong Country.
I still play it to this day, albiet much much rarely. I’m of the few in my circle who is eagerly awaiting Diablo 3 and loves the new look. | |
