Was I a douche in this situation or doing the right thing?

Just wants a opinion, anyone this is the somewhat short story.

My teacher was reading our the notices when I noticed one about a (teacher organized) “Real Christian Group”. So I thought that was a nice idea.

So I go down to the Deans Office (she holds control of all the groups) and ask if I can join the Real Atheist Group. She says we dont have one.

I was like ok, my friend is a Buddhist and he kind of likes being involved in things. So when can I tell him that the Buddhist group will be opening up. She told me calmly that there wasnt a Buddhist Group Alex.

So I went down a list of every religion I know ending at the Church of Scientology. And guess what! The only religion which has a group is Christianity.

So I told her that this school either gets a group for every religious group in the school otherwise technically I could take it to the North Shore (my town) papers. Because I had a read up and you cannot favour one religion in a Public School.

So she conceded but said she will begin making groups for every religious group that has a member in the student populous. I was suprised by this as my Dean is a staunch Christian.

I thanked her and ran off to tell my Buddhist friend (who urged me into doing it) that a group for his religion was about to open up.

So was I a douche for doing that?

It was teacher made. I did my research there was no student involvement in the making of the group. It was just randomly advertised.

I’m assuming if a student wanted a group for a different religion then the teacher would have done it.

Mm. One of my Social Studies teachers actually agreed with me when I told here haha.

But I would have felt bad if I got the group closed down.
