I notice that on the main site (Moviecodec.com) that you have a section at the top of the front page that says POPULAR SOLUTIONS

I’m assuming that these stay at the top just like stickied/important topics do on the sections. And I was wondering if it was possible to allow Admins to do this here on the Lounge as well.

The idea hit me just a few minutes ago, we want the SOTW competition to get as much exposure as possible. And currently, the way was through bumping the threads to keep them on the main page. BUT this wouldn’t need to be done if your admins could sticky a topic on the main page as well.

We could interchange the entry/voting threads for the SOTW competition when a new thread is made. We could also put the rules and discussion thread up there, as well as the big three threads. The PS3 vs Wii vs 360, I’m Lonely, and the Who’s on at the Moment threads.

So we’d have 5 topics stickied on the main page constantly. I think this would be really good. As it’d also provide quick access to the popular threads.

So, opinions? Admins, Section Mods, Members, and Batman?

This is Cid, just in an alternate account. Just so you know.

I think it would be a good idea. Just topics that either reach 10000+ posts or are important to the site?

Important to the site, I suppose. I don’t see us putting more than the five above mentioned topics on the front page.

Unless of course the Video of the Week competition got as big as the SOTW compy.

I mean, we’re averaging 10+ entries every week in SOTW. If it had even more exposure, we may eventually get to 15+ or even 20+

Not to mention that it could draw even more members to the site.

This idea kind of goes with the thread I just made, and I like this idea. You have my vote.

Not a bad idea, not a bad idea at all, but not sure on how interchanging the threads for the sticky would work.

That sounds like a good Idea :3

But how does this go with the thread you just made nihilius?

Eh, never mind. We don’t want to be like other sites, remember?

I think it’ll work exactly like stickying threads in the sections. Maybe Bjarne could add a new button to the moderator controls. That’ll say “Sticky to Main Page” or something. And it’ll work just like the normal ones. You could unsticky and sticky any thread.

I’m curious, how does one go on a rant on how members should tell Bjarne what to do with his site in one topic and then come to another and support it?
