Honestly I wouldn’t mind so much if the successful ones were anything original or dynamic. Sadly, the majority of animes that comes to mind for most people are ones in which the characters have big, colorful eyes, giant gravity-defying hair, and frequent use of ^_^, -_-, o_o and the like expressions. Not to mention you’ll be hard pressed to find a character in any angle other than portrait, profile or a 3/4 view.
Like I said though, not all animes are like that. Death Note isn’t exactly the most dynamic anime nor is it very interesting to just watch (take away the sound and plot and watch the animation itself), the plot is really good. Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-Chan is one of my favorite animes. It’s surprisingly dynamic in the animation, and the humor is rock-solid.
