I got my G1 when I turned 16 (last October), I got my G2 6months after I got my G2 (minimum time period aloud ~ I took driving school so..). I have had my G2 for more then half a year, and I am turning 17 this October.
G1 is a written “test” which involves two tests in one (per say). One with “what the signs mean” and the other with “what would you do in this situation." You need to get above a certain % to pass the test and get your G1 License. Your G1 License allows you to drive in the day time with an experienced driver (5years+ on G2/G) and you are not allowed to drive on major highways or at night.
G2 Is a “in-car” test which involves the student driving and the “tester” being beside you and marking how well you drive. If you pass this test you are then allowed to drive on your own. You are not allowed to drive at night and on major highways .
G license allows you to drive anytime, anywhere.

Jeezust, that’s a lot of hoops to jump through. I remember going in to the drivers license division on my 16th birthday, take a written test then take the driving tests with an instructor and I had my full licence the same damn day.
In order to go for the G2 “in car” test you need to wait regularly 8-10months. But I did DTSM Driving School so I only had to wait 6 months to get my G2. I now have to wait a year before I go for my G license.

OMG that sucks!
How are you suppose4d to get an after school part-time job to pay for your car/insurance and drive home at night?

Yea man, that why I also have a bike.
I usually work right after school and get off around 8ish (which isnt so bad). But when I have to do night shift’s 7-10/11 I have to bike there and back.

Haha.. oh shit, I remember when I was doing my G2 test ( I was using my car) ~ BMW.. oh boy. The moment he said “lets proceed” I floored the car to 70k and the guy was flipping out. Oh fawk.. if I didnt do so well on parallel parking and overal driving I really wouldn’t of passed. Good Mawtha-fawkin times.. haha. The guy was a little caribean black dude, with messed up yellow teeth, and an accent that was hard to understand. Who was obviously prone to having a crappy ol' sunfire as a luxury car.
