I have seen two chinese dragon ball movies where they kept it in the same anime style but filmed it live action. The massive hair and crazy anime styled antics looked ridiculous. If they were gonna make a dbz movie that works on its own merits, this is the way they would have to do it.
Keep the basic storyline and plot devices but base it in reality.
Kinda like shakespeare play remakes such as Romeo and Juliet and Othello. They had the same basic principles but were set in entirely new settings.
Just like how they changed the look of the transformers for the transformers live action, the dbz characters had to change and evolve for the american audiances too. ---

I don’t know about that. The first hulk movie was designed to be more realistic. They took a long time describing Banners life story and background before he even actually became the hulk. They, thankfully skipped all that extra crap in the “incredible hulk” movie. As a result it was more successsful. All they did was follow the story lines from the old show and comic books instead of doing it from scratch. Hopefully fox learned from that mistake. | |
