Prime 1 was better than 2, but Super Metroid was better than both.

So what I want is for 3 to learn a lesson - I want a big world with a large variety of detailed environments, a variety and I mean variety of atomosphere inducing music, a large plethora of creatures and so forth.

It is important also to reduce the hints and stuff - Super Metroid was more enigmatic because it had hardly any information flashing up on the screen - and this added to the atmosphere.

Oh - and the speed boost to link with the screw attack - that would be nice too.

well prime 2 did reduce hints and only made them show when the game realised u had no idea of what u were doing or where u are going.

Not entirely - Prime 2 gave me 3 hints in a row when I didn’t need them.

No sooner had I pressed Z to see the map and so dispose of the nagging “data received” message then I received another one.

The thing is - no hints at all would be terrific. Also, in Super Metroid the world was bigger and required no scanning. I for one would gladly sacrifice the scanning just to have more world to explore.

super metroid was sooo bad...well i haven’t played it but the graphics r bad and in modern metroid the suits r cooler and weapons look cooler but i think they should have more 2-d games

the one thing i hate when people complain about is graphicss. Super metroid is considered to be the best metroid game do to its longevity and new upgrades"at the time” and is defenitly the longest metroid game. i never played it but i heard its very long. I have never played super metroid but i do think that there should be a hint system but if you have the hint system on it should only tell you what area the upgrade was in not the exact room because that takes away the exploration experience. THe thing that seems different about the primes is that it doesnt have much sequal of the side scrollers story. instead its really a mystery i believe leading up to the space pirates forming an alience with the universes most highly powerful metroid metroid prime/Dark Samus.

i think they should have a training room where u can fight a specific enemy (dark samus, another samus, dark space pirate elite, etc.) if u dont wanna play story mode then u can go there. u can fight or be every enemy or friend u’ve scanned. so u could be a federation soldier it would be fun smiley

For those of you that haven’t played Super Metroid - trust me - it was the best.

For a start, you had more than 6 different environments (each was big) and in each environment different music and lots of detail.

For another thing, don’t know if you noticed, but in Metroid Prime 2 you only get to use your new upgradesin a few places before they are redundant. I only got to use the morph ball boost thing a few times, the Echo Visor a few times, the vertical Screw Jump twice - what the hell was the point in that?

However, in Super Metroid you got to use your goodies in more than a few places. It was better because it made getting the upgrades worth all the effort.

As for hints - well like I said, I can easily do without those.

Graphics? Well yes - Super Metroid was 2D - but had far more detail in the backround etc than either of the Prime games. Besides - soon graphics won’t matter as much as gameplay because graphics are just pretty pictures that will only become so good before they reach a stage where they cannont be improved.

What then? Maybe (fingers crossed) they’ll focus on playability.

One of my favorites has to be the first. I like the idea that you have no guidance or background information of the area and that you can go almost anywhere without the proper upgrade, you just wont go very far. Plus all the secret worlds in Metroid 1. More than 70% of the first Metroid is undocumented, it’s all secret worlds.

Easily the best was the annihilator beam...Best beam in the game and coolest effect it had. Gameplay and enemies were fun with very few moments of buttonmashing (Like once or twice) Best boss went to the Dark Samus version 4. She was mad hard and I still yet to beat her. Coolest suit was the Light suit and finally, If anything went wrong in this game. Would be the lack of Multiplayer levels. Only six in all. But I must admit though. The levels may be few. But the weaponry(Plasma cannon) and upgrades were fun to use (And to dodge)

yeah the annihilator beam was the best beam in any metroid game exuding the fact it used 2 ammonition Bars to shoot it. now remember that textures and detail are much different so metroid prime 2 does have the best graphics but i consider mp3 fix the problems that coldelephant mentioned. I was surprised that mp2 got better level design from nintendo power over zero mission because the side scrollers has the level design but not the same battle system.they should alot more cylinder shaped rooms to put your platforming to the test and have some morph ball to it to. the thing that makes prime different is the scanning which i like alot because it makes it easier to indentify things almost like another sense because its not like you can feel things in a video game"not like you would need to”.and alot more areas to, that puts more exploration in.

I actually disliked the annihilator beam. I thought it looked stupid and thought it should have been called: The Eclipse Beam. Personal opinion, though.

I still think that in Metroid Prime 2 once I had the upgrades there were hardly more than 3 places in the game to use them. I didn’t need to use them after that.

This along with the tiny size of the world and miniscule size of each of the 3 or 4 - only 3 or 4 environments (as opposed to Metroid Prime’s 5 or 6 or Super Metroid’s 9 or 10 environments) meant the game itself was tiny and pointless.

i think that there shouldn’t be any special ending. if theres an ending put it at the end. it gets boring scanning and looking for eveything. u should get every thing when u beat the gameo n a certain mode

Sorry, I’ve been neglecting this thread. I like th other one more. aNYWAY, i’LL CLEAR A FEW THINGS UP. fIRTSLY, Cold Elephant, You can turn the hints off at the options screen. Aslo, the levels may be fewer, but they are bigger, believe me. It took me 21hrs to COMPLETELY beat MP1, first time. And 24hrs to COMPLETEY beat MP2, first time. Go compute. You’re right though, the upgrades opportunity was off the mark. even though Super Metroid was great, MP2 far exceeds it, in my opinion. Finally, DestinyGuy 678, scanning doesn’t attribute to the special ending, only item collection percentage does. Scanning attributes to the galleries you can unlock.
See ya.
