frosty Guest | Breaking up with a mate is tough dude. What happens is a serious biochemical reaction that leaves one in a major state of depression (Been there a few times).
The good news is it does pass with time but it seems like forever. There is a good over-the-counter supplement that will help ease the symptoms. Its called SAM-e. Do a web search on it, there’s a lot info on it out there. You can buy it at any drugstore but will get better prices online. Start out doing 400mg a day (200mg twice a day) for few days and see how you feel. You can do up 800mg a day but just take what you need. When you stop taking it, ease yourself off. Cut the dosage in half for a while, then in half again before you stop taking it. It takes a few days of use before it starts to work and when you stop it stays in your system for a few days before the effects start to fade. If you notice your slipping back into the deep blues a few days after stopping the SAM-e, start taking it again at a smaller dose and wean yourself off a little slower.
I’m not a doctor but I am a Registered Nurse. Sam-e has helped me and some friends successfully work our way through the breakup blues. Its not a cure all for the blues, but you’ll notice a difference in a few days
As everyone else has said, its important to move on with your life. Dont just sit at home. Force yourself to get out and do things. Fall back on your freinds for support for a while.
