I’m sorry but I had to respond to this fool saying that Microsoft Kicks ***! First of all not microsoft did not invent the internet. It was invented in a joint effort between the government and other companies starting back in the 50s before Microsoft was even around. The TCP/IP protocol was developed at UC Berkley as well before Microsoft even existed.

As far as Microsoft rocking. Maybe you’re too young to remember any history of how the market has changed since the 80286 was around but I
do.

Everything that microsoft made after MSDOS was flawed with errors and system crashes. They didn’t even make a semi-stable OS until Win 2000.
Even now their OS is flawed with serious code bloat and system slow down as well as numerous
security issues.

If Microsoft hadn’t used its wallet to shut down any sort of inovation in the industry Linux would have far surpassed Microsoft.

Microsoft has leached every other companies ideas and used their marketing power and monopoly on the OS industry to force their software down everyone’s throat.

No Microsoft does not Rock at all and I refuse to pay money for any of their products.

Now with that said I would like to clarify that even though I do not like Bill Gates business strategy I will say that I admire the Bill and Laura Gates foundation which was set up for the
community.

Oh, and you’re basing the “playstation is harder to code for” crap off of the PS2 which was indeed touted as difficult to work with. Now with graphics chips and such, I’m sure that the PS3 will be more like a computer (as well as the 360) to code for. If you watched the entire PS3 conference, there were multiple people saying that it was much easier to code for the PS3 because of previous experience coding PC games. Take the Unreal 3 engine as an example.

I’M A COMPUTER ENGINEER WORKING FOR MAXTOR.
I think I understand a little bit about computer hardware people.

First off to the person who is commenting on someone elses spelling to discredit them. I didn’t read what they said but I havn’t met one engineer in my life who has good spelling but engineers are responsible for every product you buy.

Second you people saying PS3 is going to be better or saying XBox 360 is going to be better. You’re all spitting into the wind. How the hell do any of you know? You can’t base anything off of processor clock speed alone. You need to look at processor architecture people. Also don’t forget how much a role the OS plays and last but not least the way the software is written.

These are 2 different platforms. Being a linux fan myself. I hate Microsoft and don’t care if the 360 ends up being 10x as powerful. Just like I try not to by chinese products I’ll be avoiding Microsux like the plague.

My only question is since there are USB ports on both, do you think that PC peripherals might work with either system? Will the drivers need to be rewritten or will the systems be windows driver compatable?

In the end this is the question that will determine if I even buy a system. I’m a PC gamer because the controllers are better for PC and it’s more dynamic. Up to now PC games have always been better. The thing that makes this
all so interesting is that these systems boast to outperform PCs and have the hardware that might make it possable for these systems to totally replace PCs.

You’re forgetting a few things microsoft is known for.

Developing C# and .NET to stifle the development of JAVA and making web programming more confusing.

The confusing maner in which C++ MFC has created for windows programming.

Shutting out other companies from the OS market by signing a deal with major PC vendors to include windows free with new computers.

Stifling the development of open source by changing the way their OS works constantly.

Bundling software like Internet EXplorer and Media Player in their OS which stole market away from Real Networks, WinAmp, and Netscape thereby forcing the companies who created inovative products like mp3s and compressed video files that were suitable for commercial use, into near bankrupcy.

Microsoft is a parasite on the industry and I hope Linux squashes it. They havn’t made a useful thing since MSDOS.

Although I do hate Microsoft’s monopolistic position in the OS market, I don’t take that into consideration when talking about the XBOX 360. I think it’s childish to do so because we all know that there is going to be beneficial competition (to us consumers) between Sony and M$. We all know that Sony will play a large role in the console market even though the PS3 will be coming out several months later.

Operating systems and consols are entirely different and I really don’t think it should be interweaved in this argument.
