RageOverdose Guest | My choice I can’t say. Don’t know enough about Revolution yet. If they have good online and put good games into their online world, then I’m happy. I can’t remember where I heard it, but one on the launch titles is suppost to be a Super Smash Bros. that is online. Cool. Unless the Revolution is unimpressive and dissapointing to me when I see it in action, I’ll get it first. Then I’ll get a PS3 and play the pretty games. Also, I’ve been told PS3 is going to have free online like Nintedno is, and not like Microsoft. Where do they get off telling people you can go online for free but you can’t do anything. That is why Microsoft needs to f@#k off. Bill Gates doesn’t need more money. He had been knighted for Christ’s sake. Any Microsoft fanboy can attack me, I don’t care. Microsoft pays everyone to say they are better. Except for GDC.

ie....theyre just like ms, like apple, like any big corp.
nintendo even sold extras with the GC. its business.
as far as i heard, x360 will come with all peripherals bundled, and cheaper. the difference overall between x360 and ps3 next-gen-wise isnt too much of a difference. theyll both eventually offer games, hd media, online, webcam, wireless controllers, etc.
greed is everywhere where there is money.

1.zelda
2.metroid prime
3.mario
-Backward compatibility: The new console plays all games from the current Nintendo GameCubeTM generation. But there’s more...
-The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
-Easy expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory.
Two disc formats, one slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.
-The specs: The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. Revolution’s technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named “Broadway," and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named “Hollywood," will deliver game experiences not previously possible.
nintendo is keeping alot secret but here are questions and answers abou the revolution...
Q: What is the Nintendo Revolution?
A: The official codename for the successor to GameCube.
Q: Is 'Revolution' the final name of Nintendo’s new console?
A: No. Nintendo confirmed at E3 2005 that the title 'Revolution' is a codename. A final name for the new console has not yet been selected. It should be noted, however, that the company said the same thing of Nintendo DS, which ultimately proved to be the handheld’s official name.
Q: When was the Nintendo Revolution codename announced?
A:: On May 11, 2004 at Nintendo’s pre-Electronics Entertainment Expo 2004 press conference, which took place in Los Angeles, California. (The console had been tentatively referred to as “GCNext” by press before the unveiling of the official codename.)
Q: Who announced the codename Nintendo Revolution?
A: Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. On stage at Nintendo’s pre-E3 2004 press conference, Iwata said:
“Different also defines our approach to our next home system. It won’t simply be new or include new technologies. Better technology is good, but not enough. Today’s consoles already offer fairly realistic expressions so simply beefing up the graphics will not let most of us see a difference. So what should a new machine do? Much more. An unprecedented gameplay experience. Something no other machine has delivered before.
“The definition for a new machine must be different. I want you to know that Nintendo is working on our next system and that system will create a gaming revolution. Internal development is underway.
“I could give you our technical specs, as I’d know you’d like that, but I won’t for a simple reason: they really don’t matter. The time when horsepower alone made all the difference is over.
“Work on Revolution is well underway. When you see it you will be excited because you will experience a gaming revolution."
Q: How long has the Revolution been in development?
A: Preliminary development on Revolution began shortly after the release of Nintendo GameCube.
Q: Will Revolution feature more powerful hardware than GameCube?
A: Yes.
Q: What are Revolution’s technical specs?
A: Mostly unknown.
In March 2005, both IBM and ATI confirmed that they have been making the CPU and GPU for Revolution respectively.
In April 2005, MoSys, which supplied RAM for GameCube, announced that it would also be providing the memory solution for Revolution.
At E3 2005, Nintendo said that with Revolution it is aiming to make a “small, quiet and affordable console." It stressed this point and avoided direct questions about technical specifications. Nintendo executives also stated that the company is not interested in engaging in a technical battle with competitors Sony and Microsoft.
In an interview with IGNcube, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto offered further insight:
“You know, in regard to the power of the Nintendo Revolution versus, say, the Xbox 360, we’re looking at making a small, quiet, affordable console," he said. “If you look at trying to incorporate all that, of course we might not have the horsepower that some other companies have, but if you look at the numbers that they’re throwing out, are those numbers going to be used in-game? I mean, those are just numbers that somebody just crunched up on a calculator. We could throw out a bunch of numbers, too, but what we’re going to do is wait until our chips are done and we’re going to find out how everything in the game is running, what its peak performance is, and those are the numbers that we’re going to release because those are the numbers that really count."
In an interview with the Seattle Post Intelligence, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata elaborated on the company’s philosophy where next-generation technology is concerned:
“Sony and Microsoft are taking about the same approach for the future by making machines with powerful and sophisticated technology. Nintendo is taking a little bit different approach, and I think this is an interesting contrast," Iwata said. “Of course, we are applying advances in technology. But when you use those advances just to boost the processing power, the trade-off is that you increase power consumption, make the machine more expensive and make developing games more expensive. When I look at the balance of that trade-off — what you gain and what you lose — I don’t think it’s good. Nintendo is applying the benefits of advanced technology, but we’re using it to make our machines more power-efficient, quieter and faster to start. And we’re making a brand-new user interface. I think that way of thinking is the biggest difference."
Reports from development studios seem to second these statements. Software houses in the know have suggested that Revolution will not be as powerful as Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
Nintendo has revealed that Revolution will be backward compatible with GameCube, play both GCN discs and proprietary new 12cm discs, go online via Wi-Fi connections, be able to download software from the Internet, use 512MB flash memory to save data, and feature wireless controllers. In addition, the console will boast two USB 2.0 ports.
thats all the info i have since intendo is being so quiet about the controllers ect.

Personally I think Nintendo has always been the best company when it comes to gaming consoles, we all know they have the best franchises, but thats not enough is it??? No it’s not, you see this “console war” is really getting quite interesting (don’t you think) . For instance sony and microsoft (great companies don’t get me wrong) ideas and perspectives are basicly the same, they think it’s all about horsepower, while Nintendo has been all about innovation, nintendo has always been the most inventive system, they’ve always been watching our backs, there main interest is the consumer, thay want the consumer to feel at home when they play Nintendo, while Microsoft and Sony are just there to take away your hard earned cash. But soon Nintendo will rise to power once again, here is how I can back this up:
- Nintendo will regain it’s foreighn market in latin America and asia (mainley) plus everywhere else, this is why:
1- Sony (which had over a million units more sold as opposed to Nintendo) has jus royally fucked up, theyve changed their disk format ( blue ray, it will offer much more space, so...it will also make the system have faster loading time, the game developers will have a much harder time making games on those disks (not to mention the fact that people will not be able to burn them anymore), royally fucked up ( we know this is illegal, but do the poor countries give a shit)
plus they will have to put much more money and time into those games (and Sony is’nt actually famous for gameplay)
2- Sony’s president (Ken) said that the ps3 is not ment for a gaming console (If you work for a game developing company, like I do, you would be pissed)this has made the game developers furious. If i were a major company I would certainley be reluctent to provide major support to them. Especcialy online supprot.
3- Where does Sony get off charging that ridiculous price ($400 or more)I can see that is a reasonable price for what their machine supposofley has, but why would I spend 400 big ones for a machine that produces the same or lower results as opposed to a Revolution that will cost about $200 - $250 or an x box 360 that will cost $300 or more. Really, do they think they are the kings of the world???
So when you ask me about it...it comes down to the Nintendo’s Revolution or MS’s Xbox 360, it comes down to quality games and in that i think Nintendo has Microsoft by the ass, no offense but I don’t think that an empire can really depend on one GREAT game (halo). Nintendo loses when it comes to the X boxs' great multimedia system. But then again you will have to PAY for that, and plus Nintendos' online system as opposed to the xbox 360 online system is completely free (Nintendo will also have those new great revolutionary controllers)...Nintendo will win this war, maybe not at the beginning, but they will be leading by the end of this war.
This is pure speculation, guess what, it makes complete sence.

cool guy Guest | Nintendo revolution is much much more than we believe it is to be people and the only reason its getting realeased after the other systems is becuase they dont want there ingenious ideas to be stolen...AGAIN and nintendo DS sold twice as good as the psp and the gba sold better than the ps2 even though it was relesased after and the gc has smbm and metroid and mario and zelda and donkey kong and star fox...ps2 gta only...x box halo ONLY
