It was optimized, not necessarily enhanced. This is why the game overall looks the same (better lighting though) but has more enemies, higher FPS, and better physics.
Wait until unreal 4.0 to sere better graphics.
CPO - I’ll prob get it for consoles. That video looks amazing, Top quality graphics and effects.
Amazing how they managed to get that running on a system that supposedly was maxed out by Gears 1 back in 2006. *points at PS3 fans*
Another thing, LBP and Mercs 2 looked FUCKING BADASS. Last edited 19 Jul 2008 12:24 am by NEREVAR117

Gears 2 is a small-moderate upgrade in visuals, but in terms of... well... everything else, it’s a massive step-up.
And I agree, a 3 year old console thats constantly pointed at for being peaked, still keeps on surprising everyone more and more.
And ive always noticed something about 360 and PS3 devs, 360 devs make games, and the higher class games look utterly fantastic, but they rarely brag about the techniques they use or some fancy methods (Epic), then you get PS3 devs who can make great visuals but can’t do it without bragging about something they did (Like Geurilla’s super high polygon counts) Yet 360 games and Ps3 games aren’t far apart by a large margin at all, and FF13 being on 360 now proves that KZ2 could probably even be done on 360.
Of course i’m not saying no 360 devs brag, just what I noticed. ---

But that’s because of specific hardware usage, not hardware limitations. Kinda how the square block doesn’t fit in the circle hole.
But yeah, I find it funny how many times the 360 has been said to reach it’s 'peak'. While the PS3 is quite a bit more powerful, the 360 is no slouch. Games like Alan Wake and the Gears tech demo running on 360 hardware shows this.
BTW, I’m reading Contact Harvest, it’s good.

Of course, both are very different and use different methods to acheive things.

Agreed

Yeah, it’s easily one of the best Halo Novels. ---

If new GPU go for it, best experience FTW.
Consoles are weired, hers 360, tri core processor, 512 megabytes of ram to share within the system and the GPU, and the visuals can come like this,
Yet, if this was a PC game, it would need about 1.5-2 gigs of ram, 8800GT to the-Radeon 4850 an overclocked single core or a dual core processor to come out with this level of visuals.
And BTW the image is over jaggy because it was compressed when put in my photobucket. ---

But we all know the games actually look better in motion. So yeah.
The reason PC’s need that extra juice is because they have more operations going on in the background. And devs need to design the game for multiple varieties of hardware. Because of this, the hardware is never fully taken advantage of.
