I kind of agree with you Weird guy, however since Britain or the USA has never had a communist government before you never really know how it would turn out. Though like everyone else said someone always wants more sadly.

Though the US or England has never had a communist system, it is easy enough to tell how it would work out. As an example, Bill Gates would have to give most of his money to everybody throughout the country, thus, making everybody as equally rich. He would never do this, nor would anybody else in the country who is even somewhat rich. They flee. The US government is in debt as it is, so they’re not going to make everything equal. It would collapse in a few months, tops, and we would be right back where we started from.

communism promotes mediocrity and laziness. the free market promotes forward thinking, commerce, art, danger, life, superficialities and depth of charachter.

Why should an intelligent crafty ingenious mind like bill gates suffer and spread his wealth to millions of southern hicks who do nothing but chew straw and engage in incestuous behaviour?

Without ppl like Gates and others, thered be no jobs, no dreams, no technological impetus. Ford, Carnegie, and thousands and thousands of great americans would never have made this country so great.

Stop bashing the US just bcos you recently discovered Moore’s Super-Size Me or Farenheit 911. Its just extremist crap from extremists who seek to gain the power and control that the other extremists have.

btw bjarne, communism does work for a country like China. try not to make any generalized comments such as this, I know most of us disagree with communism, but yeah.

Well I’m sorry if I generalized to much. You say it works for China? I’m not so sure. They have only so much personal freedom and certainly not the freedom to say what they want. You can say in this sense that communism puts a lid on personal freedom and the ability to do what you want even if it does not damage or hurt anyone. And of course China is a country with a HUGE difference between the rich and the poor....... I think in many ways a “capitalist” country like mine (Denmark) feels more socialistic than China, because if ie. you are unemplyed in Denmark you still belong within top 10% richest people on earth because we have extremely high unemployment subsidies.. All our libraries are free, lots of discounts for elderly/kids for public transportation, free education (including universities), free healthcare etc...

fair points....but

1) in china a situation like democracy would drastically place the lives of hundreds of millions immediately below a third world poverty line. There are so many aspects which would all impact. look at india for instance, there are far far more people there below the poverty line due in part to the caste system and due in part to the political structure. it is all bcos of the extreme population rates. in a country like ussr, again it “kind of” worked. russians were exponentially richer and healthier. but democracy ravaged the country’s economy and people.
smaller nations like denmark work well with socialism.

2) like welles alluded to in a movie.....switzerland has had nothing but peace and social order etc, and all it has to show for it is the swiss army knife and the cuckoo clock. meanwhile, places like the usa, russia, and other european countries, have been at the forefront of chaos and danger and life and upheaval, and greatness only came from them all.....art, cars, industry, literature, music, etc. denmark, no offence, has offered barely anything short of two writers....kiergergaard and knut hamson? (the hunger). and im not even sure theyre danish, but scandanavian at the very least.

gg,

Hehe I’m not claiming Denmark has added a whole lot to mankind, in fact I do not agree much with the way my country is run at all. Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher, I do not know who knut hamson is. We have a few other people you might recognice: Niels Bohr (nuclear sciencetist), Tyche Brahe (astrologist), Hans Christian Andersen which I’m sure you know.

The only thing Denmark offers today you might say is an extremely high living standard, in many ways better than in the USA (we do not have a large difference between rich and poor...).

I agree that being at war brings forth a great many technological innovations etc. I also agree that the change from communism to the democratic/capitalism/western community is very hard and dangerous for many people - and by no means do I want to force it upon any country (like that Bush guy wants to do), I think all such huge society changes should come over time and from within..

...And why should the western capitalist/democratic society be the best or the only way to live? What right have we got to force OUR world view upon others? Again, we think we are better than others, think we know more than others etc. — which makes us, in a socratic way, far inferior to those we would seek to educate. For we do not really KNOW anything...

yes i do apologize for not mentioning.....neils bohr, brahe, and yes of hans christian. not to mention alot of fine sporting athletes and racing drivers etc. scandanavia on a whole is actually very good at pumping out top athletes in certain sports. they obviously have very superior programs there that nurture sporting endeavors better than a lot of other countries......look at the english, with all their population they are generally sub-standard in many sporting endeavors.

indeed....it is good to see someone so dominant in a sport above the rest of the field. greatness before our eyes. gives the whole le mans a feeling now of who can knock off the champ, a very big occasion should it happen, everyone queueing up to be the top dog.
just like lance armstrong in the tour de france.

one loses interest in a sport a little when the trophy is always being won by multitudes of different people from year to year.....like tennis often happens. but there are more sports again today where there is a dominant champion over the last decade. everything from gridiron to golf to F1 etc.

yeah, it is good to see people excell in sports. The bad thing though, is that some people take sports way too seriously. I mean seriously as in a columbian soccer player got assasinated back in his home country because he scored and own-goal. sad
