I like how it is the only religion that praises free thinking and looks at us all like individuals and allows us to have command over our own lives w/out being treated like sheep and living in fear that if we accidntally break one of the 10 commandments it’s gonna be eternally held against us.
Personally I’m a big proponet of separation of religion and state, and I love how this religion pretty much teaches that. It gives praise where praise is due and punishes those that don’t treat others right and are asking to be punished. I don’t even know why some people practice this turn the other cheek stuff, all that results in is being taken advantage of, you gotta be tough and let people know not to mess with you or they’re gonna walk all over ya.
I also think almost every so called “sin” in western religions is crap other than thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not steal. The rest are just there to be there as far as I"m concerned especially the “honor thy father and mother”. This one doesn’t make any sense as some parents are just plain bad parents, why should we praise and honor bad parenting?
And the aformentioned sins I agree with any self respecting individual wouldn’t do and the ones that do aren’t practicing religous people and if they are it’s almost always a crime of passion. Due to their poor status which shows a lack of motivation or just being unlucky because It demeans their character, shows a lack of pride and in the case of murder is something that can’t be taken back and haunts you for the rest of your life and is just not right.
That is unless that person had personally done something to you that is deserving of this sever punishment like kill one of your immediate family just for the hell of it. That’s when the justice system comes in though.
We just don’t need these written down on a piece of paper and be afraid God is gonna send us to eternal damnation for making a mistake because if he really loved us what kind of insane selfish, uncaring God would he be for sending his children down to hell to be tortured? All he’d have to do is straighten us out once we saw him again after we died and maybe send us back as something crappy like a tree as punishment. ---
