Well this is a trial of this new method. No saying it’s going to stay.

Yes, people can still vote for an easily-identified style, but just as easily people can mimic another’s style without anyone else knowing.

However, this new spin is by no means perfect, and we (being myself and Cid) hope that even though it’s fairly easy to bypass this new anonymity, people will go with the flow and play the game to actually be honest about what sig they find to be the best.

I’ll probably do this for another week or two after this (2-3 weeks in total) to see if the entries are less than what they have been.

I have no problem with the no names being posted part, its just the fact that half of the things I want rendered, are not a render already, and I am not the best at rendering, so it is going to be hard.

Well then if anything you can look at it at an opportunity to better your ability to make a render.

And yeah, it’s obvious people COULD share their sigs on AIM or something if winning a contest based around editing a picture in photoshop to look shiny and stuff on a forum site that hardly ranks on alexis if they really WANTED to, but we’re going on the assumption people will respect the honesty we’re trying to bring to the contest, as well as have something better to do with their time than try and cheat.

In some of the past SOTW voting threads it’s often turned into a big discussion and I remember before that one or two votes has been misplaced because of it. Maybe making it a rule to rid of off-topic chatter completely in there would make it more efficient. (If it hasn’t been thought of already, of course)

No. The off topic chatter in the entry thread is actually very, very useful. It keeps the thread on the main page, which means the competition will be getting more attention. If it was just stickied or something, so it’d be easy to find, then people would have to check the section to see that there’s a new SOTW competition. It’s less productive.
