This is the revival of a club I tried to start a while ago. With the interest in anime as far as this section of moviecodec, I believe its time for a thread dedicated to all fans of anime. So, bring your big eyes and fanservice, because its about to get Eastern in this bitch.
Anime and manga can be discussed here, and for space sake, I’ll refer to manga under anime as well.
To Join
Send me a PM with your request. Do not post in the thread. Note a few of your favorite animes and/or mangas. Nothing fancy.
Requirements
-Must be a registered member.
-Of course, you must at least watch some anime, and any will do, even if its just Cartoon Network.
Rules
1. All forum rules apply.
2. No flaming the members of the club. If you don’t like anime, that’s okay and you can make a post, but keep it civil and reasonable, or better yet, try to refrain altogether.
3. No links/information/videos/etc. that give access to full anime or manga content. A few YouTube AMV’s or show openings are okay, but you can’t post full episodes, volumes, or ways to access them.
4. Refrain from the hentai. No nipples here. If you really want to, I guess you can discuss it, but don’t post anything pornographic.
5. No spamming. You can be goofy, but your discussions need to have a topic, even if its how much you wank to Orihime, not just random posts that have no meaning.
In time I’ll add a few things, and I’ll make a banner, unless someone wants to contribute one.

Anime Demographic Genres
Shonen: Probably the most mainstream anime and manga in the US. Generally young male oriented involving drawn out action, more sexual female characters, and/or themes about camaraderie and friendship. Media includes:Dragonball Z, Bleach
Shojo: Generally young female oriented, involving romance and characterized by elegant art styles, even though not all are that way. Media includes: Sailor Moon, La Corda d’oro
Seinen: Generally older male oriented. Some of the more famous animes are, in fact, seinen. Usually more mature than shonen, sometimes pornographic. Media includes: Akira, Ghost in the Shell, FLCL
Josei: Generally older female oriented. Deals with more mature and realistic romantic themes or everyday female life. Like seinen, josei can be pornographic. Media includes: Honey and Clover, Pet Shop of Horrors
Kodomo: Children oriented. Has moral views, much like Barney, but with more violence. Content is family friendly. Media includes: Astro Boy, Pokemon
Dojin: Fan-made anime games or manga. Usually associated with porn, but dojin is merely fan-made and most fans like their favorite characters in sexual situations. No real media specifics, since dojin spans everything.
Anime Sub-Genres
These mostly accompany the same thing as film genres, but anime tends to combine many genres into one. One show can be science fiction, action, and romance at once. So, you should know them.
The only exception I can think of is magical girl, and sub-genres related, which is identified by a group of girls, or one girl, with magical powers who tries to live in the normal world or fights off malevolent adversaries. Magical girl is classified as shojo.
Anime-Related Media
Light novels: Novels that use anime or manga style illustrations, almost like a young adult novel. Media includes: Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Shakugan no Shana
Visual novels: Video games that use anime/manga style illustrations. Unlike most video games, visual novels require very minimal gameplay. It’s more like an interactive fiction game. Media includes: Fate/Stay Night, Clannad, Tsukihime
lol ya i finished death note... great series... my father is starting Gintama so i may read that... and .Hack manga isnt the best, but its still a great series... i wonder when the next .hack series comes out ...
its one of the few thats in the anime aswell... since the manga is totaly different from the anime in that series... i got sign on DVD... just need the others... ive only played one of the games... but i need to get them all... but .hack novels are amazing...
