they have romance to show another side to the character. look at lelouch, to me he was a bastard when he wanted to be, but it shows he also had another side to himself, a side that shows compassion.
any i hated shirley’s character, and suzaku was pretty cool, but he whine to much.
now c.c should’ve been lelouch love interests.
the anime ended the way it did because, lelouch made himself the sole enemy of the world to ends all wars, and give his little sister a chance to live her life in peace, the ultimate sacrifice.

I like bastard characters,that’s why I like Light Yagami,Revy,and Hidan.
Some problems with getting rid of some of those people though throws serious hax on the series. With out Relina Herro would have died on several occasions. With out Malfina Gene would never be able to pilot the Outlaw Star. With out Kismoto whats his name would have been killed to. Or at least beaten to a bloody pulp as she was his inspiration
