They did bleach OK

But Naruto was terrible.

its because they use terrible actors and take out the sex jokes.

I like most anime dubs. I mean 4Kids dubs suck, and a few others too. Most are good. Lupin the III, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, Eureka 7, Wolf’s Rain, and Ghost in the Shell are all really good dubs.

Most Anime connoisseurs prefer the authenticity of the language of the Anime in question..normally Japanese, as it often does a much better job of portraying the emotion and tone of the feature more so than the English speaking actors who do the dubbing. There are a few exceptions to this rule..mainly Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop and Steamboy as these all are set in the Americas or England and therefore the dub is more authentic.

Most times however, the voice actors do a mediocre job of re-voicing the Anime which when compared to the original, it looses its sparkle.

The whole subtitle issue is a necessity to understand the Anime unless you have learned the Japanese language, which many avid Anime watchers do as to avoid reading the subtitles and better enjoy the Anime. After some experiance in watching foreign Movies and Anime, one does become accustomed to reading the subs and it doesn’t really detract from the quality of the show.

Now I know some people may see nothing wrong with English dubs, however they are mostly made up of people who lack the patience to give authentic Anime a chance and persevere with adjusting to the subs or simply have only watched the eng dub Anime without experiance of watching a undubbed movie or ova.

For most though, the resonance that comes from watching a Anime in its original form will always be the preference of choice.

ya japanese anime has tons of blood, and cussing, and instead of calling them death gods or shinigami on bleach they changed it to soul reapers. but i dont care, i would rather watch the japanese version, but id rather listen to the english, because i cant fluently speak japanese as i can english so i watch english anime, i watched bleach once with the actual japanese version, and its tough to get the full effect of the episode while trying to watch the episode and read the subs at the same time, i couldnt do it more than once.

My issue isn’t authenticity as much as it is I just happen to be used to it and frankly, in many cases, anime sucks in English because of shoddy voice actors. Even major American studios that hire the actors mess up. Only on a few animes do get the job done right, notably the ones you mentioned. I’d say Studio Ghibli’s work was dubbed well, too.

But, I look at Full Metal Panic!, Divergence Eve, Naruto, the 4Kids dub of One Piece, and even Neon Genesis Evangelion, and they do a terrible job (in the case of NGE, it was good at times, but more bad than good). I mean, aside from Naruto, all of those animes are good, or at least potentially good, and deserve more than crap. At least when I go to Japanese audio, I don’t feel I’m listening to uninspired or forced acting, even though I really wouldn’t know, now would I?

But, I can easily handle subtitles, since I’ve watched enough films in foreign languages, so I can go either way. Personally, I’d prefer English if the actors acted well. Otherwise, I’ll go with Japanese. Its the only way I watch Advent Children, which is sad that Sony would suck so bad at dubbing that.
