People claim that English dub is terrible because of the following reasons:

1. They listened to the subbed version prior-hand, and feel the awkwardness of hearing the dubbed version. This awkwardness tends to cause them to think that the dub is bad.

2. Dub is sometimes actually bad. A good example of this would be 4Kids. Add that with censorship, and you have one butchered anime series.

3. The person is simply a Japanophile who hates everything that’s not Japan-related.

I cannot tell if Funi was going for “French” too..

I love Choppers voice. Sounds more like the original. There’s nothing wrong with it. And Usopp is great. Much better than the annoying 4kids ver. whom you could never take seriously. However, original Usopp seiyuu, or Voice Actor, is a beast. I mean really, he’s EXCELLENT.

And now that I think about it, Funi’s voice actor sounds like a younger version of the original. Huh.

OH, and you have a clip of Donquixote Doflamingo! His Funi actor is great as well. I like it quite a lot. I also like the original. If they added his laugh to the Funi ver, then I’d like him even more...but the original is still my favorite.

Which brings me to another thing, did you know that many of the One Piece characters have laughs that are specific to them?

And one more thing! It seems to me that you are a bit new (maybe young isn’t the right word?), so some of the things that I mention now may not bother you, but in time you’ll realize the same things. Just know that with Funi at the reigns, we’ll get all of the One Piece goodness coming over as well as good translations for the speed up that’s upcoming.
