Indeed. The show wasn’t too good. It’s always ever-so corny morale taking over at the end.
Games were great. Sadly, the games are getting quite repetitive. It seems like they are just milking out the Pokemon series by adding more Pokemon.

They’ve been milking it since Red/Blue...Look at Yellow.

Pokemon is big because its a collection-type game with a simple and addicting setup. Its pretty much a virtual card game, but you can improve your monsters over time. Competition, trading, all that hooplah made it huge. It was also so simple and quick to play, something that makes handheld games good. You could probably level a Pokemon a bit in a short little time period on the bus or whatnot, save, then go back later.

Perfect way to get a kid to shut the fuck up for a few minutes too.

Poke’mon was a original idea that took everyones fetish for having monsters for pets and turned it into a game. It worked on the fantasies of children and adults alike and it was helped along by good story structure and a great character base. 100’s of specific beasts, each with its own story, moves and abilities made the whole ...gotta catch em all' thing so addictive. Every person found a poke’mon to identify with and they would put huge amounts of time into making their fav poke’mon as strong as ever.

you could also battle this poke’mon against other players poke’mon in a mines better than yours type thing.

marketing and a children’s television show, followed by merchandise to capitalize on the children’s further addiction to their favorite characters meant that the poke’fever stayed alive until the next game which brought further characters and more addictiveness in completing the collection.

this is the trend or cycle that is still continuing today.
