Here’s my list;
01: South Park
02: Drawn Together
03: King of the Hill
06: Robot Chicken
07: American Dad
08: Family Guy
09: The Cleveland Show
10: The Simpsons
(Too much suck to be on the list; The Goode Family.)
South Park is the best of all the shows, Trey Parker & Matt Stone has the sharpest satire on the air, and they kick in all directions instead of just kicking at republicans, like other, shittier shows do when they take a stab at satire and fail.
Drawn Together is so over the top extreme and offensive, it’s everything Family Guy wants to be but doesn’t have the balls for. Some of the most memorable quotes of all time comes from the show, as well as some of the outright most hilarious scenes.
King of the Hill is hugely underrated, it’s tragic that most people are too stupid to actually understand the comedy, because it’s great. It doesn’t all have to be fart jokes and
crazy adventures, kotH proves this by having well-written characters interacting in everyday situations.
Boondocks also have good writing, mocking the gangsta culture, making good satire of society as well as poking fun at the black community, without being offence or resorting to cheap shots.
Archer is another show with great writing, making fun of everyday situations at the office, as well as parodying the whole secret agent genre. Put a self-absorbed fratboy as the lead and you’ve got a show that practically writes itself, the zingers and one-liners are instant classics, and their are a lot of them.
Robot Chicken is fun, since they’ve taken the cut-away jokes from Family Guy and ditched the characters and plot,
but it’s somewhat predictable, with most skits ending with someone dying. The Star Wars episodes were hilarious though, and much funnier than the Family Guy ones.
I don’t really have anything to say about the Seth MacFarlane shows... American Dad is carried by Roger pretty much, Family Guy wore out it’s welcome a few years back and is obviously running on fumes with increasingly longer gags and repeating jokes over and over, not to mention how tiresome it is with the moronic, low-brow satire of everything republican (Oh, the nazis support McCain, you’re so fucking funny Seth), and the Cleveland show is pretty much a mix of the to previous shows, with a black man.
The Simpsons is the most overrated show ever, it stopped being funny after seasons 7, and now it’s just painful to watch. I could rant all day about who much the Simpsons suck, and why. In the beginning, Homer was stupid, but the things he said were often insightful as well as entertaining, while now the show revolve around Homer saying over the top moronic things every 10 seconds, ergo stupid for the sake of being stupid.
It used to be a show about a family getting in to ordinary situations (Homer worrying he’s lost his cool and trying to fit in at a festival for instance), now it’s about a family getting in to down-right bizarre adventures (Maggie being the savior of the world) and all the God damn celebrity cameos, they used to be thought out and coherent with the story, Barry White happened to walk by the Simpsons house since he was in Springfield on unrelated business, now it’s every fucking celebrity on the planet showing up for no reasons whatsoever, other than to interact with the Simpson family for a few seconds, as well as the family themselves becoming celebrities on a regular basis, yet at the end of the episode, the status quo kicks in and nobody remembers anything about the families celebrity status, not even when they become famous again, even though it’s the 50th time it happens.
I hate the Simpsons.
