Whe did they actually start trying to make their characters make sense scientifically?

(not sure if this should be in literature or Vs forum although it would benefit the Vs forum more.)

They still don’t. Punches cannot explode planets due to gravity, you cannot punch reality for it is just an thought not a physical force or object, and they give no scientific or magical explanation for there powers most of the time, such as Superman’s flight.

There’s a difference between toonforce and being ridiculously overpowered. Arale is an example of a character of toonforce.

Obviously from first hand experience you find it quite enjoyable.

Juggling planets is pretty toonforce like in my opinion.

Toonforce would be feats given for teh lulz, and Pre-Crisis is usually for excitement factor more than lulz.

Superboy has towed planets. I don’t see this scan of Superman juggling planets.

I remember watching an interview with stan lee talking about the origins of many marvel characters. He was talking about how getting superpowers from a gamma bomb or cosmic rays made sense in the 60s but now we know better.

The reason why I watch movies, or use to read comic books because I wanted to see things that I could not or would not do. If they started making movies or comic books with things that I could/would do, I would no longer be intersted in them.

I know, my point is that they are trying to make things like moving at lightspeeds or invisability make sense.
