In this thread, inconsistencies in manga, anime, comics, movies, and TV shows can be discussed and possibly explained. I will create a list of the inconsistencies that have been explained so they can be used for future reference. If there is more than one explanation for an inconsistency then both will be added to the list.
I want to start with the inconsistency of Master Roshi destroying the moon even though King Piccolo could only destroy a city with his full strength. Also, that fact that the moon re-appeared in DBZ when it was destroyed by Piccolo Jr.
Here is my explanation: After Roshi destroyed the moon, Kami created a new one a while later. And the original moon was not very dense and quite small and weak, but it was close to Earth making it seem as though it was just as big as our moon. Kid Goku was able to get there very quickly on his expanding staff so it must be very close. But the new moon Kami made was larger and denser, so Piccolo Jr. needed to use a powerful attack to destroy it.

I know, but it still is the prologue to DBZ which was serious, and it is important in explaining some stuff in DBZ, so inconsistencies like the one with the moon are important to devolope a reason to.

neither was MLATAR,but kal toke that serouisly.
Even cartoony stories should maintain a consistent plotline unless its something completely retarded like Bobobo-bo-bobobo or along those lines. But Dragon Ball has cartoony and non-serious elements but still maintains a consistent plotline and a somewhat serious theme towards the end, so we can still make sense of it and connect it to DBZ.
Some stuff CAN’T be explained, because it’s completely contradictory. In DBZ, Goku in SSJ3 fighting near even with Gotenks Buu is contradictory to what has been established about the character powers, just like when Krillen fended off First Form Cell who was more powerful than the Sayajins at the time. Since, that stuff wasn’t in the original manga, we even have an alternate version which resolves the contradictions, because they weren’t there in the first place.
The explanation to what you’re talking about though, is quite simple: Akira Toriyama probably had no idea how vast the moon is. It’s not good to use in arguments. On the earth, Roshi’s blast is a mountain destroyer. I guess we can assume that it pierced the moon all the way through it’s rock, and in Dragonball physics land, that causes it to explode. Beams are definitely more effective in Dragonball/Z than blasts, and nothing beats cutting discs (except Cell’s neck).

We can explain what is possible to explain, and attempt to explain everything else, but we could probebly come up with some explanation for what you said, but explaining the anime really isn’t worth it, the manga is were the true story lies, so any contradictions in that would be useful to explain.

Yeah filler can mess up a lot, thankfully I think a lot of it is being removed.
Any one want to offer there explanation for the inconsistency of “I want to start with the inconsistency of Master Roshi destroying the moon even though King Piccolo could only destroy a city with his full strength. Also, that fact that the moon re-appeared in DBZ when it was destroyed by Piccolo Jr."? I already gave mine if you want to read it and evaluate it.
