Hey all fighting game lovers, i personally am tired of all the fireball shooting, teleporting spamming, cheating super special having bastards in a fighting game, let me hear how u would make a truly fun and challenging fighting game

thanks man, i would put like a damage system so if like my arm has been broken it reduces speed and less attack damage

Oh that would be awesome mine would be based of mythologies lik greek, norse and aztec and 2d like blaz blue.

oh, very very original, u might want to hold on to that one, i hope ppl dont steal ideas on here lol, as for characters im still used to the whole bruce lee wannabe, old man kung-fu daylight ninja kind of gameplay you know?

If it were 2D I’d probably go in the general direction that Aksys does. They make it pretty damn balanced and varied at the same time, plenty of counter moves and whatnot else.

I actually had an idea regarding 3D after GG2 came out. I don’t know specifically how GG2 does it, but I always thought to have attacks based on button releases instead of presses. I.E. a straight thrust could be holding down square on a PS2/3 controller, pushing forward on the analog stick, and letting go of the button. (pressing it would keep you from moving when you start getting into things like half circles and whatnot else)

But yeah, Aksys I think knows what they’re doing as far as 2D fighters go.

I also have anothe idea for a 3d cell shaded game I for now Call Genres.

It’s going to have faction such as cartoons(Tex avery style) anime and etcera maybe even some claymation looking characters

Wow, so many good ideas and none of them are ever shown to the light, as for tyreaus, that’s a very ingenius way to keep attacks going as opposed to just being blocked so easily i.e. pressing the button long enough can just break through a normal defensive stance and rack up some major combos

I would make it so that the characters feel the effects of the fight. Getting tired, getting woozy, taking injury, sort of like in Bushido Blade. Also no health bar as most fights are over in a couple of moves anyway and I would want the gameplay to reflect that.

I would think it would be more useful in feints and throwing off timing. If I were to have a sort of power thing to it, I’d probably make it depend on the attack and combination to make it like Aksys does. I.E. a clockwise turn with the square button would be more powerful than just pressing the square button, and other types of attacks like that.
X button could be a jump/dash button, pressing back would be block and pressing back while pressing one of the other buttons can change the level of the block. (overhead, mid, leg) Or maybe just strength, stronger blocks taking more from a tension meter but being able to block more attacks.
I dunno, just randomly came up with it to be honest. xD

I really want to see a system that gets rid of the health bar as well, and instead uses a damage system based on location and severity. I think blocking/parrying and dodging should play heavily into the fight. If you happen to stab your opponent in the face with your first strike... he should die.

I’m okay with the health bar I don’t know why in recent years the health bar has been completely removed sure it’s not realistic but neither is mortal kombat.

Hmm yeah plus with no health bar the fights would be over in like 2 seconds... guess reality isn’t always the best reference. Though I still do like the idea of feeling the effects of the fight.
