It’s difficult to compare the two directly. Although both characters represent the same genre of gaming (stealth/espionage/action), Sam Fisher’s world is more realistic than that of Solid Snake, who regularly faces off against melodramic, cartoonish foes such as a Cyborg Ninja who can slice bullets in half with his sword and vampires who can run on water. Fisher fights villains who might believably exist in the real world. However, for the sake of this thread, let’s compare the two.
Solid Snake is the ultimate soldier. Metal Gear Solid has always been billed as a 'stealth' game, but it’s clear to anybody who’s played the games that Snake’s sneaking skills are limited. In fact, if he didn’t have that little radar thingy flashing in the top corner, he’d get his head blown off every time he turns a corner because you can’t even make the camera look straight ahead. His real strengh lies in his bad-ass attitude and combat skills. Rapelling down walls under fire from armed choppers, using stinger misles on nuclear battle tanks, going mano-a-mano with all manner of genetic freaks and emerging victorious in spite of ridculous odds. His middle name could be Rambo.
Sam Fisher, on the other hand, is stealth incarnate, a regular futuristic ninja who knows invisbility is a lone operative’s best ally. He’s also a dab hand with weapons and clearly as strong as an ox, or more aptly a mountain gorillia, hanging from pipes from an unlimited about of time one-handed while aiming his pistol with the other, displaying amazing gymnastic strengh and flexibility to perform splits-jumps ...
So who’d win in a fight? Well, the answer’s pretty obvious. If the two were dropped in different rooms of a large, shadow complex and told to find each other and kill, then Fisher would emerge the victor, probably snapping Snake’s neck from above while he searches a closet for a nice stealthy 'box' he can hide beneath.
However, if the two happen upon each other’s whereabouts and the contest comes down to a gun-tottin' stand-off, Sam’s in deep s**t. Snake doesn’t lose fire-fights against sharp shooters (e.g., Sniper Wolf) and he doesn’t lose brawls (e.g., Grey Fox, Liquid Snake). Sam might know a million and one different ways to render Snake kaput from behind or above, but face-to-face he’s out of his league.
Conclusion: Snake wins in a straight fight. Fisher wins whenever the lights go out. “Darkness”.

If people do keep reviving threads, why does it matter? It’s only 'cause they’re interested. People talk about football over and over for years but it still interests them even though the same things basically happen year in, year out. Besides, nobody forces you to actually visit every one of these threads if you don’t wanna. It’s not doing any harm.

Solid Snake is the Superior in this match.
If its a straight out brawl Snake wins hands down with CQC and plus he is sutch a badass who has taken on some real freaky super powered villens in his time and still maneged to woop there sorry ass.
In another case both have great stealth ability as Sam is naturaly good and Snake is equily as good with Camoflage disgiuse and espinage.
this one could take a long time but weve all seen Snake is also one patiant dude, (waiting for that Sniper Wolf in MG1 and The Old Dude in MG3)so he can bide his time.

Raiden VS Snake VS Agent 47 VS Sam Fisher VS Otacon VS Ocelot Liquid VS Emile Dufraisne VS Carson Moss VS Jann Lee VS Solidus VS Cortez VS Johnny Gat VS Halo
Everyone is hiding in the shadows on the roof of a hotel in China. They’re are all concealed but they know that one another are there. Otacon stupidly creeps into
the open rain. Triggering the battle, Raiden jumps down with a blade in his hand. He shows of some skills, scaring Otacon to the ground. Otacon wets himself before being
stabbed in the heart. Suddenly there is gunshot and screaming. Then Raiden’s blade flies straight out of his hands as Jann Lee (Dead or Alive 3) flying kicks into Raiden.
Agent 47 with his shotgun blows Jann Lee away before he can get to him. Everyone is now fighting. Master Chief makes a barricade and snipes at everyone. His shots miss...
Carson Moss rhinos into 47 and pummels him repeatedly in the face until Johnny Gat (Saint’s Row) breaks a bat on Carson’s back incapacitating him. 47 pulls out some wire
and speedily chokes Gat to death whilst dodging Snake’s bulletsfrom his M4. 47 runs into the shadows and vanishes. A shiny portal appears and out dives Cortez
(TimeSplitters). Solidus trips him up with his tentacles and throws him through the chainlink fence and off the building. Meanwhile, Emile (Splinter Cell Double Agent) and
Ocelot are fighting. Liquid’s hand is too strong for Emile as he chokes him. Gasping for breath, Emile crawls around on the floor before being finished off with Ocelot’s
Revolver. 47 pulls a grenade from his coat, but before he pulls out the pin, a figure dropped down and pulled up on 47’s throat; making him vomit. The 3 green dots that
attacked 47 suddenly dissappear. Raiden becomes concious again, grabs his blade and rushes at Snake. Suddenly Raiden freezes and jolts 6 times as Ocelot finishes him off.
As Ocelot is reloading, Snake breaks Ocelot’s neck. After awaking, Carson grabs Snake tightly around the chest and bear hugs him. Snake begins to choke but luckily is
saved by 47 who shoots 2 shotgun shells at Carson, breaking his spine. 47 jumps at Snake and quickly smothers him with anaesetic, making him unconcious. Now the only
survivors are Snake; Agent 47; Master Chief; Sam Fisher and Solidus. Spitting blood from his swollen mouth, Agent 47 limps into the shadows. But soon after is dragged
out by Solidus! Solidus lifts 47 into the air squeezes him. Suddenly Solidus hears a whistle coming from the shadows. He walks in and mysteriously dies. 47, on the floor
writhing in pain to get his breath, suddenly spots an odd looking box slowly moving towards the shadows. He ignores it. Now Sam Fisher emerges from the shadows without a
scratch on him. He takes gun, loads it, takes aim at 47’s head but is shot, not killed by Snake’s sniper. 47 grabs Sam’s gun and beats him to the ground when suddenly he
finds a flashing blue ball on his arm. BANG! The plasma grenade blows 47 and his limbs apart. Suddenly Snake is attacked by the Master Chief as they engage in Close
Quarters Combat. * Snake pulls off the Master Chief’s helmet and gasps. Master Chief swings at Snake but Snake ducks! Sam vomits up some blood. Master Chief gets
worried he might lose and throws several plasma grenades at the area around Snake! There is a giant explosion that sends Snakes flying, but alive. Fisher runs into the smoke
and gets Master Chief around the neck. He pulls as hard as he can but cannot break his neck. The Master Chief elbows Sam in the face! Sam is terrifyed so he runs to the
edge of the building, cuts a hole in the fence and climbs down the side of the building. But Snake never runs away from a battle... He runs at the Master Chief and gives 3
mighty hits to his head. Suddenly a portal appears and out jumps Cortez!!! As Snake breaks Cortez’s neck, the portal shatters. Suddenly Snake’s brains splatter out as a
mysterious voice shouts: HEADSHOT! ASSASINATION! RUNNING RIOT!
What Do You Think Would Happen? P.S. I am not a Halo fan, it’s just he’s the srongest there.

Snake doesn’t get scared. Well... He does... But only in the face of his superiors. How does he know if a missile-equipped automated nuclei battletank is going to send his sorry ass back into the stone age? He’s got a sixth sense...
As for Sam... He relies too much on ideaology and realism. He fights with his gadgets and I know this sounds soppy but Snake fights with his heart.
And for all you bad-ass so-called 'gangbangers' that are really kids, they aren’t secret agents or some random guys who happen to have guns. And they especially do not just kill for the sake of it. They’re patriots; not terrorists.

Why is everyone saying theywould kill each other? They could become a team... Have kids... Get married... Get conjoined... SORRY

him i gotta say this is a toughy partly due to the fact that both hardcore mofos. but if u look at it in terms of realism sam is a lot more realistic due to the fact snake can hide in boxes and has a bandanna that gives gim infernat ammo. but fisher dosnt need that he’d disable wat ever light sorce there was in the arena ( providing its in doors) and wait for snake to mess up somewhere. plus he could just wait till snake died of old age cus since hes a clone his age accelartes alot quicker then most ppl

Well because there both human, then they both have their limits to where they just die. If you really look at it they are both kinda the same, but I was really pissed off about Sam Fisher because in the game, well... I died. It was really easy to get killed by somthing small like a pistol. That tells me in order for Sam to be alive he can only take little damage in his life, maybe a couple bullets put him in the hospitle, but in Snakes, if he were to take a couple of Sniper rounds, he would smile and keep on comin. Sam belongs to a special force group. Well thats fun and all but Snake works alone. Sam takes out terrist, Snake saves the world. Sam gets info on his enemys, Snake shoots first ask questions later. In all I know both historys and know all of their skills and after brief inspection I came to the fact that Snake would win. I could kill fucking Sam Fisher with two in tthe chest.
You are so stupid its not funny. Sam is a former Navy SEAL, Lt. Cmdr. You don’t earn that title for nothing, there is no other Speical Force equal in the training and time compaired to them. I am talking about the entire world here, not just the U.S. In the game of Splinter Cell, it is based of more realism unlike Metal Gear Solid. You try taking some sniper rounds in your chest and keep coming. I doubt you could handle it, and neither could anyone else who is human.
Killing terrorist is saving the world. It is obvious you have never played enough of the game, Splinter Cell, to know this. It is by logical fact that Sam would break his neck before he would of saw it coming. Sam has more advantage then that Rebel of a Covert 3rd World Operative. Night vison, Thermal vison, RMS, Optical Cable, Halo trained, SC-20 Rifle (Need I say more?), the list goes on. Sam doesn’t us a freaking box to move around, if I was a guard the first thing I would notice is a box changing positions or appearing out of no where.
Sam actually works alone too. Do you see any of his team mates in communications techinally assist in his missions directly? They only support by intel and drop off/pick up.
To sum it up, even by facts Sam owns Snake anyday.

Let me correct you also.
I doubt you realize Sam has the Sc-20 with Sniper Attached Abilities. Snake can’t fire rounds and rounds with accuracy like Sam could with his rifle, yet it only takes one shot. Snake can’t see as good as Sam could in the dark. You do also know that SEALs are known for being damn good marksman. (Watch SOCOM)
I doubt Snake could do that to Steven Segal, and Steven Segal fights the exact same way Sam does. (In Defense) Sam, however, is a Lt. Commander; while Steven was a Captain. (SEAL Team) Sam fights like Jason Bourne on Aggressive. I’m trying to put out on examples here. We’re done here.

my theory is this:
Solid snake looks like my dad, my dad during his youth was often mistaken for chuck norris, chuck norris was trained to be a FUCKING BADASS by Bruce Lee, who died in 1973, when america was in the hight of the cold war, which is when metal gear 3 is set, featuring big boss, from who’s DNA, solid snake was created.
therefor: solid snake = chuck norris = big boss = solid snake = kick ass.
sam fisher? well... he can bell dive....

I believe Sam would win in a fight. He may not be able to do insane acrobatics and such, but he is realistic. There is no way Snake would be able to fight as many soldiers as he does with a realistic amount of health, so I assume for this fight that both Sam and Snake use realistic health. Sam is smarter and more precise while Snake is more about hiding until the enemy isn’t looking and then shooting them in the back.

Ok so first of all: SOLID SNAKE SUCKS IN EVERYTHING!!! Everybody’s allways like “Snake would hide in a box” or “Sam dies too easy only from pistols”- dudes have you ever played Splinter cell??? About the box- There is something called thermal vision! I hope you know what it means! And yes sam dies easy for pistols and that happenes becouse SAM LIVES IN A REAL WORLD!! And not one that has giant tanks with feet and an old man that has health problems destroying them!! I mean please... Snake’s gonna get killed without even knowing!!!
