That would be impossible since the sand Gaara uses is chakra induced, making it stronger then normal sand. Thus, Sandman cannot manipulate Sand that has chakra, which is impossible for him. And your arguement about Sandman knocking his head off is moot since his CHAKRA indused sand is protecting him.

And what is Sandman made up of? Sand. Nothing special, just sand. There is a difference between Sandman’s sand and Gaara’s sand.
