DON’T READ THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE 2008 FILM TITLED DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

God I could hardly say the title of this RT with a straight face, “Respect Gort”, lawl.

The test of any such higher authority is the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we have created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets and spaceships like this one, and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression they have complete control over us...Your choice is simple, join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration.

If a child gets out of line, his mommy will spank the shit out of him, in this case, Gort is the mother and man-kind is the child.

Again, this is a major spoiler so be warned.

In the newer version of The Day The Earth Stood Still they get rid of the ridiculous name “Gort” and sup the titanic arbitrator up with A.I. bio-nano-technology. Gort’s only resemblance to the original alien technology is that it could transmute it’s own atoms using organic nano-technology.

Transmute resembles the fusing or splitting of atoms. In the original film, the U.F.O. could create a cracks that formed a door and then remove them to unmake the door.

As you saw in the first movie, the U.F.O. could open a door way, and then close it without there being any crack, this is what I mean by transmute. It was also stated in the 2008 film that Gort was an artificial organism. Gort looked like a titan in the 2008 film, it was almost as large as the Statue of Liberty.

Again, this is a major spoiler so be warned.

In the film, Gort couldn’t go all ape-shit without humans provoking it, and, the Aliens made Gort a dumb-ass. Humans surround Gort in a giant metal container and transport it to a military base and attempt to penetrate it’s skin with reinforced diamond drills. The drills break and Gort remains unhampered.

Near the end, Gort is ordered to annihilate humanity, and then proceeds to transmute itself into millions of artificial micro organisms that have the same harder-than-diamond nano structure as Gort itself. These micro-bots perform very, genocidal functions.

They split themselves on the surface of the broken diamond drill and manage to scrape it, the two resulting micro-bots grow back to their original size and do the same thing all over again, and scrape the diamond further. Eventually they multiply and age the diamond drill until it falls apart, and then they continue to age the table until it falls apart, the military base and everyone in it, the desert above the base, the military, New York City and everything else they come in contact with in an endless cycle of destruction. Fortunately Klatuu fries Gort’s artificial brain, and intern the bots fall down dead.

Although it was never shown, the micro-bots could reform into a larger Gort, since they multiplied.

That might as well be the reason it was so large. If Gort wanted to, it could grow as large as a frickin' sky-scraper by aging a mountain or a city.

Gort could transform into micro-bots and have them go inside Superman’s skin pours and burst his red blood cells, killing him.

You can always add feats from the original movie for starters.

Obviously from first hand experience you find it quite enjoyable.

Melting stuff isn’t that impressive.
